Victor Oswald Wiedebusch of the Caradan
Community in Mills County, Texas, died Monday,
December 22, 1997 at Hamilton General Hospital,
Hamilton Texas. He was 78 years of age.
The funeral was Wednesday December 24, 1997 at
10:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel with Elder James Robertson officiating
assisted by Jack Vaughan, minister of the Assembly
of God Church in Goldthwaite. Interment was in the
Caradan Cemetery, Mills County, Texas.
Mr. Wiedebusch was born October 18, 1919 in
Mills County, Texas, the son of Paul and Augusta
Kauhs Wiedebusch.
He married Vivian Koen on March 26, 1943 at
Goldthwaite, Texas. He had lived in Mills County
all of his life.
He was a Primitive Baptist. He was a farmer and a
rancher.
Mr. Wiedebusch was preceded in death by his
parents, three children and one grand child.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Wiedebusch of
Caradan, Texas; four sons and daughters-in-law,
Vick and Belinda Wiedebusch of Brownwood,
Vernon and Cathy Wiedebusch of Early, David and
Linda Wiedebusch of Caradan and Gary and Addie
Ann Wiedebusch of Goldthwaite; one daughter and
son in law, Christina and Ray McNair of Waco;
three sisters, Erna Holmes and Delores Hardcastle,
both of San Marcos and Paula Lee of Hamilton; 16
grandchildre; and 17 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandchildren.
Vonnie Willson, 69, of Tye, Texas, shop
foreman for J.H. Strain & Sons Construction Co. for
40 years, died Friday, January 23, 1998 in an
Abilene hospital.
Services were Sunday January 25, 1998 at 3:00
p.m. today in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in
Merkel, Texas with the Rev. Jim Ritter officiating.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel.
Mr. Willson was born in Lamkin in Comanche
County and attended school in Mullin. He moved to
Tye in 1960.
He was the son of Florence Harris Willson and
Harvey Wilson of Goldthwaite.
He married Elizabeth Stephens in 1948 in
Cross Plains. To this union was born three children,
Two sons, George Willson of Dallas, Larry Willson
of Tye, one daughter, Lou Ann Gayle of Tye.
He is survived by his children; two brothers,
Warren Willson of Mullin and Freddie Willson of
Stephenville; one sister, Gloria Marler of
Goldthwaie; three grandchildren.
He married Nina Beth Robertson in 1996 in
Goldthwaite.
He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Elizabeth, his parents and two brothers, Weldon and
Edward.
Nella Beth Wrinkle of Goldthwaite died
Tuesday, February 3, 1998 at Brownwood, Texas.
She was 75 years of age.
Mrs. Wrinkle was born December 11, 1922 in
Goldthwaite of Ercher and Viola (Venable)
McCasland.
She Married J. M. Wrinkle, Jr. on September
12, 1943 at Goldthwaite.
She was a Methodist. She was a homemaker
and an avid gardener.
Mrs. Wrinkle was preceded in death by her
husband, J. M. Wrinkle, Jr., her parents, Ercher and
Viola McCasland, and one brother, Dale
McCasland.
Survivors include one son, and daughter-in-law
Marty and Pat Wrinkle of Stephenville; one
grandson, Jason Mark Wrinkle of Richardson; two
granddaughters, Christi Michelle Wrinkle of
Stephenville and Sharon Beth and Mark Fowler,
both of Fort Worth; one brother and sister-in-law,
Larry and Dorothy McCasland of Pittsburg, TX; and
one aunt, Juanita Reeves of Goldthwaite.
The funeral was Friday, February 6, 1998 at
3:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel in Goldthwaite. Officiating at the funeral
was Sid Spiller, pastor of the First United Methodist
Church in Goldthwaite and Doug Holtzclaw, Pastor
of the Goldthwaite First Baptist Church. Interment
was in the Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery,
Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas.
Pallbearers were Sam Watson, Kip Thompson,
Michael Grba, Coy Hammond, Ray Hammond,
Bruce Hammond, Mike Welch, James Boykin, and
Mike Williams.
Elmo Dale Watson, 75, of Goldthwaite, Texas,
died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Watson was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Burnet
County, the son of Tom J. and Corena (Sprinkle)
Watson.
He married Lula Wilkey on March 8, 1946 in
Goldthwaite.
Mr. Watson had lived in Mills County since he
came home from the Army. Shortly after joining
the Army he contracted Spinal Meningitis while on
a transport train. There was 8 soldiers that were
diagnoised with the disease and omly two survived.
He was then discharged because of illness.
Mr. Watson was a long time member of the
Goldthwaite Church of Christ and served as decon.
He was a member of the Mills County Farm
Bureau, the Soil Conservation Service. He served as
a member of the Goldthwaite School Board and
owned Watson Varity and Supply in Goldthwaite
for 19 years. He was a member of the Mills County
Chamber of Commerce. He was a rancher, farmer
and a driller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom J.
and Corena (Sprinkle) Watson and one brother, Carl
Watson of Bertram.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Watson of
Goldthwaite; two sons, Tommy and KathyWatson
and Sam and MarieWatson , all of Goldthwaite; two
daughters, Becky Wilkins of Midland and Benita
Watson of Austin; eight grandchildren, three
brothers, Lewis Jeff Watson and Lee Watson, both
of Goldthwaite, and George Watson of Burnet; a
sister, Merlene Herbert of Belton; and eight
grandchildren, Sandi Thompson and Connie and
Leesa Watson, Christy Eggleston, Travis and
Richard Meyer, Mickey Wilkins and Danny Tollett.
He is also survived by three brothers, Lewis (Jeff)
Watson and Lee Watson both of Goldthwaite and
George Watson of Burnet and one sister, Merlene
Herbert of Belton.
The funeral was Saturday, February 7, 1998 at
10:00 a.m. in Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel
in Goldthwaite. Terry Jackson, minister of the
Goldthwaite Church of Christ, officiated at the final
rites. Interment was in Goldthwaite Memorial
Cemetery, Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Watson, Billy
Ira Wall, David Watson, Travis Watson, Floyd
Watson, Don Watson, Dennis Herbert, and Steve
Watson.

Rosa Lee Williams of Mullin, Texas, died
Friday, March 27, 1998 at Lamesa, Texas. She was
88 years of age.
Mrs. Williams was born January 17, 1910 in
Oklahoma, the daughter of John B.and Mary Ella
(Strickland) McGlothlin.
She married Claude Williams on December 13,
1937 at Joinerville, Texas.
She had lived in Mullin until moving to Lamesa
in 1995.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-
law, Claude Dale and Joyce Williams of Mullin and
Johnny and Joyce Plunkett of Lamesa; one daughter
and son-in-law, Marilyn and Floyd Bryan of
Conroe; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren;
five great great grandchildren; and one sister, Mae
Lambert of Overton, Texas.
The funeral was Monday, March 30, 1998 at
2:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel in Goldthwaite. Interment was in the
Oakview Cemetery at Mullin, Texas.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Carroll Lockett,
Johnny Parrish, Larry Hutto, Dalton Hutto, Jay
Pluckett, and Kevin Bryan.
Norman Lee Webster, age 60, of Goldthwaite,
died Friday, June 19, 1998 at Goldthwaite Senior
Health Care Center in Goldthwaite.
He was born July 28, 1937 in Mills County,
Texas, the son of Daniel Bradley and Era (Brown)
Webster.
He was a member of the Assembly of God
Church in Goldthwaite. He was a construction
laborer.
Norman Webster was preceded in death by his
parents, one brother, Raymond F. and two sisters,
Jody McGary and Bettie Bynum.
He is survived by one sister, Frances L. Bynum
of Goldthwaite; one nephew, John Bynum Jr. of
Fort Worth, one niece, Leslie Coles of Goldthwaite;
two aunts, Alma Owens and Ruthie O'Jay, both of
Killeen; two brothers-in-law, John J. Bynum of Fort
Worth and Ernest McGary of Mullin.
The funeral was Sunday, June 21, 1998 at 2:00
p.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel in
Goldthwaite. Jack Vaughn, minister of the
Assembly of God Church in Goldthwaite officiated
at the final rites. Interment was in the Goldthwaite
Memorial Cemetery, Goldthwaite Mills County,
Texas.

Frieda Louise Wilhelmine Drueckhammer
Wagner, age 96, died Wednesday, February 25,
1998. The funeral was Saturday, February 28, 1998
at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville with
ministers Melvin J. Hammer and Nancy Lund,
officiating. Interment was in the Trinity Lutheran
Cemetery, Pottsville, Texas.
Mrs. Wagner was born October 30, 1901 in Old
Washington, Texas, the daughter of Carl and
Minnie Borgstedte Drueckhammer. She was raised
in Priddy. She was baptisted on January 12, 1902
and confirmed in 1916 at St. John's Lutheran
Church in Priddy, Texas.
She was married to Herman Fritz Wagner on
November 24, 1021 at St. John's in Priddy, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63
years and by all her brothers and sisters.
Survuvors include three sons, Leamon Wagner
and wife, Lydia and Darman Wagner and wife,
Jane, all of Hamilton, and Benjamin Wagner and
Wife, Mildred of Fort Worth; a daughter, Mabeline
Turnbow and husband, Marvin of Fort Worth, five
grandchildren, Robert Wagner and his wife, Lynda
of Burleson, Cathy Gonzales and her husband, Jerry
and Paul Wagner and his wife Liz, all of Fort
Worth, Doug Wagner and wife, Tammy of Clifton,
Darrell Wagner and wife, Kristi of Hamilton; and
seven great grandchildren, Chad Wagner of
Burleson, Lyndsey, Nathan and Kevin Gonzales and

Neita Cockrum Ware died in Wichita Falls,
Texas Saturday December 27, 1997 at the age of 99.
Services were held at the Hampton Vaughn
Funeral Home of Wichita Falls at 10:00 a.m.
Monday, December 29, 1997 with Tom Rogers
officiating. Graveside services and burial were held
in Goldhwaite, Texas at the Goldthwaite Memorial
Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Monday December 29, 1997.
Neita Ware was born in Caradan, Texas,
November 23, 1898. After graduating from
Goldthwaite High School, Neita attended the
University of Texas for three years and the
University of Berkeley in California in 1922 and the
Metropolitan Business College in Dallas. She
followed a career of teaching school several years
and of a legal secretary.
October 27, 1934, she married Bryan Franklin
Ware of Amarillo and Fort Worth. They moved to
Crane, Texas in 1936. He preceded her in death on
December 18, 1954.
Neita Ware moved from Crane, Texas to
Wichita Falls January of 1976. Neita was a member
of rhe First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls. She
became a life master duplicate bridge player in
1978 and was a very avid duplicate bridge player,
playing at three different bridge clubs up until she
was almost 99.
Neita Ware is survived by one daughter, Joan
Ware Engelman of Wichita Falls; her son, James
Ware of Dallas; two grandchildren, Kathy
Engelman McKenzie of Dallas, and Cindy
Engelman Fowler of Austin; and four great
grandchildren, Katelyn, Meggie, and Charlie
McKenzie of Dallas and Callie Fowler of Austin.
She is alsosurvived by two sisters-in-law, Claudia
Cockrum Ross of Goldthwaite and Ellen Cockrum
of Copperas Cove, Texas and two nieces, Susan
Shead of Houston and Sarah Jane Cockrum Straley
of Copperas Cove.
Neita Ware's death marks the end of the direct
descendants of J.V. and Minta Cockrum and their
five children,--two boys, Millard and Raymond, and
three girls, Neita, Velma and Mary Helen. They
were a prominent family and long time residents of
Goldthwaite, Texas where they moved in 1899 from
Caradan, Texas.

Nell Weaver of Goldthwaite, Texas, died
Friday, Mat 29, 1998 at Coryell Memorial Hospital
in Gatesville, Texas. She was 85 years of age.
The funeral was Tuesday, June 2, 1998 at 10:00
a.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel in
Goldthwaite. Rev. Doug Holtzclaw, pastor of the
First Baptist Church of Goldthwaite, ifficiated at the
rites. Burial was in the Rock Springs Cemetery,
Mills County, Texas.
Mrs. Weaver was born September 3, 1912 in
Mills County, Texas, the daughter of William
Austin and Georgia (Cannon) Cooke.
She married J.W. Weaver on April 2, 1938.
She moved to Goldthwaite from Jacksboro.
She was a Baptist. She was a retired teacher.
Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her
husband, J.W. Weaver and two brothers, Rudolph
Cooke and Horace Cooke.
Survivors are one brother, Herbert Cooke of
Goldthwaite; eleven nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Brady Dodson, Joe Cooke,
Mike Cooke, Gordon Euhus, Richard McCoy, and
Ken Koonaman.
Evelyn Weaver, 87, of Goldthwaite died
Tuesday, May 6, 1997 at Brownwood Regional
Medical Center, Brownwood, Texas.
The funeral will be held Friday, May 9, 1997 at
10:00 a.m. at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel
in Goldthwaite. Interment will be in the Big Valley
Cemetery, Mills County, Texas. Rev. Doug
Holtzclaw will officiate at the service.
Mrs. Weaver was born March 5, 1910 at Big
Valley in Mills County, the daughter of Walter
Harvey and Elizabeth (adair) Nelson.
She lived in Mills County for many years and
was employed at Childress Clinic and Hospital in
Goldthwaite.
She was a Baptist. She was a homemaker.
She married Floyd Bradley Weaver on
December 24, 1931 in Mills County.
She was preceded in death by two sisters,
Nannie Bohannon and Laura Nelson and two
brothers, Hugh Nelson and Herndon Nelson.
Survivors are her husband Floyd Weaver of
Goldthwaite; two sons and daughters-in-laws,
Walter Martin and Marilyn Weaver of Goldthwaite
and Robert Nelson and Faye Weaver of Pasadena;
one daughter, Bradley Nan Rodgers of Brownwood;
seven grandchildren; and nine great
grandchildren.
Loubella Womack, age 86, of Goldthwaite,
Texas, died Monday, May 18, 1998 at Hillview
Manor Nursing Home in Goldthwaite.
Mrs. Womack was born June 22, 19111 at
Thrifty, Texas in Brown County, Texas, the
daughter of John F. Payne and Loula McAuthur
Payne.
She married Weldon B. "Buddy" Womack on
September 8, 1939 at Anson, Texas.
Survivors are two sons, Richard Womack of San
Angelo and Robert Womack of Goldthwaite; one
sister, Ruby Shelton of Goldthwaite; one brother,
J.F. Payne of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren; and
four great grandchildren.
The funeral was Tuesday, May 19, 1998 at
10:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel in Goldthwaite. Rev. Doug Holtzclaw,
pastor of the First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite,

JohnAdrian Warlick of Goldthwaite, Texas
died Sunday, June 14, 1998 at Hillview Manor
Nursing Home, Goldthwaite, Texas. He was 85
years of age.
Mr. Warlick was born October 20, 1912 in San
Saba County, Texas, the son of James Wiley and
Ida Elizabeth (Sewell) Warlick
He married Hazel Reagan on December 21,
1935 at San Saba, Texas.
Mr. Warlick lived in Mills County most of his
life. He was a member of the Goldthwaite Church
of Christ. He was a rancher and a butcher and an
avid pecan grower.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing and he
was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed
watching the local sports if his children or
grandchildren were involved.
Survivors are his wife, Hazel Warlick of
Goldthwaite; two daughters and sons-in-law,
Dorothy and Chester Berry of Goldthwaite and
Wanda and Bill Cooksey of Mullin; two sons and
one daughter-in-law, Gary and Carole Warlick of
Goldthwaite and Joe Warlick of Cleburne; five
grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one
brother, Paul Warlick of Mullin.
The funeral was Tuesday, June 16, 1998 at
10:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel in Goldthwaite. Terry Jackson, minister of
the Goldthwaite Church of Christ, officiated at the
final rites. Interment was in the Goldthwaite
Memorial Cemetery, Goldthwaite, Mills County,
Texas.

Thomas William "T.W." Winters, age 88, of
Lampasas, Texas, died at his residence late
Tuesday, March 17, 1998. Mr. Winters was born
September 4, 1909 in evant, Texas to Simon B. and
Kate Austin Winters.
On June 23, 1929 he married Edna Earl Guffee
Winters at Dublin, Texas.
Mr. Winters was a rancher and lived in the area
all of his life. He was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Lampasas and he also held a
membership at the Evant Methodist Church.
The funeral was conducted Friday, March 20,
1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist
Church in Lampases.Officiating was Rev. George
Wheeler. He was assisted by Rev. J.W. Hutcherson.
Interment was in the Murphree Cemetery in Evant,
Texas.
Mr. Winters was preceded in death by his wife,
Edna Earl Winters, who died in 1990, one brother,
Buck Winters of Uvalde; and three sisters, Bess
McDonald and Dick Wilhite, both of Galveston and
Mabel Culvert of Gatesville.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Earl Winters of
Goldthwaite and William David Winters of Del
Rio; granddaughters, Molly Earl Winters Kaplan
of Bracketville, and Maggie Katherine Winters
Jones of Moline. grandsons, Thomas Joe Winters
of Tulsa Oklahoma, Thomas David Winters of Del
Rio. He is also survived by great granddaughters,
Maria Katherine Jones of Moline and Tiffany
Marque Winters of Del Rio and great grandsons,
Thomas Marshall Winters of Goldthwaite, Thomas
Randolph Jones of Moline, and Thomas William
Winters of Del Rio.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Johnson
Wilkins were held at 2:00 on Sunday, August 30,
1998 at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home Chapel in
Goldthwaite, Texas. Mrs. Wilkins, beloved mother,
grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister and friend
died Friday, August 27, 1998 after a long and
courageous battle against a debilitating illness.
Her funeral services was conducted by her
grandson, William Ray Harper, in the chapel she
and her husband built. Her grandsons, Ray Harper,
Jeffery Dale Harper, Victor Schulze III, Charles
Wilkins III, and great grandsons, Victor Schulze
IV, William Harper II, Jeffery Dale Harper II and
Zachary Schulze, served as her pallbearers.
Interment was in the Goldthwaite Memorial
Cemetery.
Born in San Saba, she was the daughter of
William Marsh Johnson and Pearl Biggs Johnson.
In 1923 her family moved from San Saba to
Goldthwaite, where she became a life long resident.
Graduating from Goldthwaite High School, she
completed her education in Centenary College in
Shreveport LA. On October 9, 1931 she married
Charles Roy Wilkins to whom she was devotely and
happily married for almost forty-four years. They
owned and operated the Wilkins Funeral Home for
over forty years until her retirement shortly after the
death of her husband.
She was a member of the Goldthwaite First
United Methodist Church and her strong religious
beliefs were reflected in her ongoing acts of
generosity and kindness. All who knew her learned
that if you needed her she would be there. Even
after her illness began to limit her activities, she
performed volunteer work for those in need.
Mrs. Wilkins was a skilled landscape designer
and critic and flower show judge. In addition to her
homemaking and work at the funeral home she was
an avid gardener who won many blue ribbons and
sweepstakes for her floral designs and
arrangements. She was a member of the
Goldthwaite and Texas State Garden Clubs and
served as President of the Goldthwaite club, District
V Director, Zone I Director, State Treasurer, 3rd
Vice President, Editor of Lone Star Gardener,
National Land Trust, and a National Flower Show
Judge. She was also involved in environmental and
historical preservation issues such as the Mills
County Courthouse project and other volunteer
activities. Mrs. Wilkins was a member of the
Tuesday Study Club and Order of the Eastern Star
and served in several offices in both organizations
including Worthy Matron.
Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her
husband, parents, and brother, William Marsh
(Mike) Johnson, Jr.
Left to mourn her and treasure cherished
memories are her children, Nell Wilkins Harper and
husband, Bill, of San Angelo, Texas, Charles Roy
Wilkins, Jr. and wife Anna of Irving, Texas, and
Marsha Wilkins Grove of Austin, Texas; her sisters,

Florida; brothers, Wallace and wife, Patty, of
Goldthwaite, and Bobby Johnson of Goldthwaite;
her grandchildren, Gay Harper Schulze and
husband, Victor, of Temple, William Ray Harper
and wife, Delilah, Jeffery Dale Harper and wife
Cynthia both of San Angelo, Anna Amanda Wilkins
and Charles Roy Wilkins III both of Irving; great
grand children, Vivtor Schulze IV, Elizabeth
Schulze, Zachary Schulze, Will Harper, Hallee
Harper, Mattie Harper, J.D. Harper, and Cristin
Harper and sister-in-law, Zelda Johnson of
Goldthwaite; and numerous nieces, nephews and
friends.
As a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-
grandmother, sister and Friend, she leaves a legacy
of love, She will be remembered for her strength of
character, fairness, energy, and love for all things
beautiful. The world is a better and more lovely
place because she lived. Certainly those of us who
knew her and shared her life were blessed. She will
be sorely missed.
Margaret Elizabeth (Dink) Cobb Williams of
Mullin died Saturday, September 12, 1998 at 6:15
at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center,
Brownwood, Texas. She was 67 years of age.
Mrs. Williams was a home health care attendant
for the past 20 years. Before this she was emoloyed
at Brownwood Manufacturing Sidrona. She also
worked at Patty's of Texas in Goldthwaite.
A life long resident of Mills and Brown counties
she was the daughter of Frank A. Cobb and Lillian
Davis Cobb. She was born November 6, 1930 in
Mills County. She graduated from Mullin High
School in 1949.
She married W. Rex Williams Sr. at the Mullin
Methodist Church on December 31, 1951.
She was preceded in death by her husband in
October, 1996.
Survivors are two sons, Rex Williams Jr. and his
wife Debi of Azle, Texas and Jimmy John Williams
and his wife Ginger of Lake Brownwood; five
grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one
brother, J. D. Cobb of Maypearl, Texas; two sisters,
Mary Ruth Graly of Goldthwaite and Nell Gambrell

15, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mullin United
Methodist Church with Art Allen officiating.

Loreta Agnes Miller Williams of Goldthwaite,
Texas, died Sunday, October 18m 1998 at the
Goldthwaite Senior Health Center. She was 93
years of age.
Mrs. Williams was born July 11, 1905 in the
McMillin Community in San Saba County, the
daughter of Dan Miller and Sarah McMillin Miller.
She married Martin Eli Williams on May 23,
1942 in Los Angelos, California.
She moved to Goldthwaite from Lometa in
1986.
She was a member of the Church of Christ. She
was a homemaker and a ranchwoman.
She was preceded in death by her husband on
December 19, 1987. She was also preceded in death
by five brothers, four sisters and her parents.
Survivors are one brother, Glenn Miller of
Goldthwaite.
The funeral was Tuesday, October 20, 1998 at
10:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel in Goldthwaite with Terry Jackson, minister
of the Goldthwaite Church of Christ officiating.
Interment was in the Senterfitt Cemetery, Lometa,
Texas.
Serving as pallbearers were Bill Whitt,
Hurbert Stark, Charles Buck, Louvell Sides,
Weldon Kirby, and Billy Mac Newton.
Russell Calvert Wright of Goldthwaite, Texas,
died Thursday, October 29, 1998 at Brownwood
Regional Medical Center, Brownwood, Texas. He
was 80 years of age.
Mr. Wright was born September 9, 1918 at
Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Clifford Leroy
and Mabel Townsen (Oldham) Wright.
He married Lorraine L. Lasley on January 15,
1944 in Clovis New Mexico.
The couple moved to Goldthwaite from
Melrose, MA on September 1, 1981.
He was a retired vice-president of Lynn Ladder
and Scaffold Company in Lynn, MA. He was a
captain in the U.S. Air Force and served his country
during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his
parents, Clifford and Mabel Wright and two sisters,
Marilyn Wright and Beverly Wright.
Survivors are his wife Lorraine L. Wright of
Goldthwaite; two sons, Richard Wright of Ft.
Myers, FL and Robert Wright of Dallas; two sisters,
Betty S. Conn of Lynnfield MA and Janice D.
Blachard of Melrose MA and two grandchildren.
The funeral was Saturday October 31, 1998 at
11:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel in Goldthwaite.Rev. Tom Loftin, pastor of
the First United Methodist Church in Goldthwaite
officiated at the final rites. Richard Poss assisted
with the service. Interment was in the Goldthwaite
Memorial Cemetery, Goldthwaite, Mills County,
Texas.
Serving as pallbearer were H.G. Brooks, Wilson
Head, Walter Tubbs, Bob Usrey, Col.
M.A. Campbell, and Jimmy Don Elliott.
Sue Helen Bradshaw Weller of Stephenville, Texas died
Thursday, December 24, 1998 at her residence. She
was 71 years of age.
She was born August 17, 1927 at Abilene, Texas.
She married Grady C. Weller on October 1, 1950 in
Abilene.
Mrs. Weller taught for over 20 years at Springdale High
School in Springdale, Arkansas. In 1984 she was
recognized as Arkansas Art Teacher of the Year. She
was a member of the Arkansas Education Association,
Arkansas Art Education Association, Beta Sigma Psi
Sorority and the Central Texas Art Asssociation. She
was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church. She had
lived in Springdale, Arkansas until she moved to
Stephenville, Texas in 1990.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
December 30, 1998 at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in
Stephenville.
Officiating at the final rites were Father Sam McClain
and Dr. Murray Travis. Her body will be cremated after
services.
Survivors are her husband, Grady C. Weller; two sons,
Brad Weller of Los Angeles, California and Chris
Weller of Springdale, Arkansas; three daughters, Jean
Brinegar pf Goldthwaite, Sunna Cash of Springdale,
Arkansas and Sally Reinhardt of Lajes Air Force Base
in the Azores; one brother, Dr. Benjamin Bradshaw of
San Antonio; eight grandchildren; three great
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by one
brother, Jenkins Bradshaw, III.
The family request memorials be made to the American
Cancer Society or the Ronald McDonald House of
Little Rock, Arkansas.

WHITE INTERRED
Robert N. White 83, died Sunday January 10, 1999
in Georgetown, Texas.
Mr. White was born July 11, 1935 at Mullin, Texas,
the son of C.C. (Lum) White and Cora Lampman
White.
Mr. White's grandfather, Ben White, was one of the
original Williams Ranch settlers and the first business
owner in Mullin, Texas. He owned a barber shop.
He is survivoed by his wife, Dorothy Borger White of
georgetown; his sons, Robert White and family of
Austin, and Loy White and family of Georgetown; and
two brothers, Jim white of California and Ben White
of Longview.
The funeral was at 2:00 p.m. January 12, 1999 at the
Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel in Georgetown.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at
Georgetown, Texas.
Eva Schmidt Woods of Mullin, Texas died Monday
March 8, 1999 at her home in Mullin. She was 67
years of age.
She was born June 30. 1931 at Jagendorf,
Germany, the daughter of Lanzo and Clara Schmidt.
She married Otis L. Woods on July 25, 1947 in Otto
Beuren, Germany.
The couple moved to Mullin from Conroe in 1985.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in
Goldthwaite.
Mrs Woods was preceded in death by one daughter,
Eveline Woods Allyn in 1994.
She is survived by her husband Otis Woods of
Mullin; one granddaughter, Jennifer Allyn of
Houston; one great granddaughter, Nicole Allyn of
Houston; one sister Meta Evert of St. Cloud FL; and
two nieces, Georgie Metcalf and Elizabeth Wolfe.
Rosary was held at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel on Thursday, March 11, 1999 at 7:00 p.m.
The funeral was conducted Friday, March 12, 1999
at 10:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home
Chapel in Goldthwaite. Interment was at St. Monica
Catholic Cemetery at Cameron, Texas at 4:00 p.m.

Socrates "Soc" Allen Walker, age 82 of
Goldthwaite, Texas and former long time Big
Springs resident, died Sunday March 21, 1999 in
Goldthwaite.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday,
March 24, 1999 at Trinity Memorial Park with Dr.
Ed Williamson, pastor of First United Methodist
Church, Big Springs officiating.
He was born on August 30, 1916 in Alvarado,
Texas and married Helen Jane Ferguson on June 6,
1941 in Merkel Texas.
Mr. Walker graduated from Daniel Baker College
in Brownwood in 1938 and recieved his Masters
Degree from East Texas State in Commerce in
1953. He was a teacher/coach at Roaring Springs
from 1939 to 1939 at Cross Plains from 1939 to
1942 and at Colorado City from 1942 to 1946. He
served as superintendent in Westbrook from 1946 to
1958 and as principal of Goliad Junior High School
in Big Springs from 1958 to 1977 when he retired.
After moving from Big Sprins, he lived in Spur for
nine years and then had been in Goldthwaite for one
year.
He was a member of the First United Methodist
Church and was a member and past president of the
Kiwanis Club. A member of TSTA,Texas
Association of Secondary Principals and the Texas
Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Walker of
Goldthwaite; a son, Ron Walker and his wife,
Wanda, of Goldthwaite; a daughter, Karen Adams
and her husband Tom of Big Spring; a brother, Ted
Walker of Rankin; grandchildren, Shay Adams and
his wife, Misty and their son Sean Adams of
Abilene, Matt Adams of Lubbock, Shawna Adams
of Big Springs, and Kyle Walker of Stephenville;
and his mother-in-law, Anna Lou Ferguson of
Merkel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, V.C. and
Leta Walker; two sisters, Ava Walker Childress and
Mildred Walker Browning; and one brother, Clyde
Walker Jr.
The family suggests memorials be made to the
donor's favorite charity.
