The information contained on the first census of Lunenburg County was taken in January of 1770 and contains 298 names listed, with a total of 1493 people living in Lunenburg County. It was not broken down as to town and country lots...
The actual census shows: NUMBERS of Men, Boys, Women and Girls as well as the total # of people in each Family. It also shows their RELIGION (of which all were listed as Protestants and there were no Roman Catholics. The COUNTRY OF ORIGIN was also displayed under six categories - English, Scots, Irish, American, German & Other Foreigners and Acadians......
This first census also included STOCK in the following categories - Herfes, Oxen &Bulls, Cows, Meat Cattle, Sheep and Swine and PRODUCE in the following categories - Wheat, Rye, Pease, Barley, Oats, Beans, Hemp Seed, and Flax Seed.
