She's Still the One

Valerie Still: The Woman Behind the Words

In her Own Words

Buzz, buzz, buzz...

I wonder how she does?

"You may be surprised at a few answers because you'll probably think for a person my age I should be a little more mature (Ha-Ha) but anyway..."

Hitting the right notes...

One favorite singer is really tough for me, as far as American singers I would probably say Whitney Houston or Barbra Streisand but for my favorite of all it would be an italian singer name Luciano Pavarotti, I bet you've never heard of him (you have to remember I lived most of my life in Italy and really feel more Italian than American!!!!). My teammates have helped me get updated and so I do enjoy listening to music from Ma$e, Puff-Daddy and groups like that... I'm "phat" :)

Channel Surfing...

My favorite TV show is "Touched by an Angel," it always has a good message and makes me think. My favorite movies (& remember I have a 2 year old son and I probably have the mentality of a six year old).... Sorry guys but as I was telling about my six year old mentality I hit the wrong button on my computer... see what I mean :). My favorite movies are "Babe," "Ghost," and recently "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree." Aaron and I love to watch Pooh, he is so funny, I probably laugh more than he does.

Favorite Ballers...

My favorite ABL player would have to be my teammates. Thye are so much fun to be around and they're some of the best people and players that I have ever played with. I love those guys but don't let them know that... it may go to their heads!!!!

The Lucky Number...

I chose #11 because I won my Italian championship with #11. I was #12 in college.

Hidden Superstitions...

Before Aaron I had a number of superstitions on game day but with him it's really difficult to take basketball that serious. I still do eat pasta for my game day lunch and even though I hate to admit this one, I've worn the same underwear for the games (I wash them of course!!!!).

The Naked Truth...

Pre-game with the Quest was absolutely crazy and post-game also. I really can't get into detail but there was a lot of noise, music, confusion, curling hair and fun. I still don't know how we managed to concentrate for games. Post game was usually twice as bad and the players who are a little less shy do a wild dance after showers... That's all I'm going to say and you didn't hear that from me!!!

The Quest for the Craziest...

I would have to say that the wildest players other than myself would definately be Shannon Johnson and Sonja Tate. I believe they could have their own sit-com, "Misbehaving Badly Females":) They keep the team very loose and very seldom will you find a frown on their faces.

The Prankster..."

The funniest jokes I've played on my teammates would probably be two. Last year on our way back from a west coast trip, right before we boarded the airplane, Aaron, my son had a bowel movement (sorry) and so I thought I should co something creative with his dirty diaper. We were catching the night flight back, which is about 4 or 5 hours long. Nikki McCray always travelled first class and so I decided I would dump the diaper in her bag as a little first class "snack". Well you can only imagine what those people in first class thought of Nikki and her scent during that long flight. That diaper was just festering away and my other teammates couldn't wait to land to get her's and their reaction. It was so funny!!!!

This year, during one of our games, I just happened to be sitting next to Shannon Johnson on the bench most of the fourth quarter and the "Quack-Quack" song starts to play. We were ahead by a bunch and Shannon and Katie decided they would do the "Quack-Quack" dance. They jumped up off the bench, right in front of me and I just got a great idea. Right as they were performing their last "duck flapping wings" move, I grabbed Shannon's shorts and pulled them down around her ankles. The fans went wild and as Shannon was grabbing to pull them back up she tackled me and laughed about it. That whole event was our highlights for all of the TV stations here in Columbus that night. The next day she wasn't so thrilled about her stripping act:)

The Littlest One...

Aaron is great!!!! He's a wonderful little person and I still can't believe that he's my son, I was truly blessed. I thank God for him every day... that is, when he's behaving himself :) He has made me look at life in a very positive and fun way, I guess children tend to do that.
