Nikki McCray, a graduate of Pat Summit's daunting women's basketball program at Tennessee, was a cornerstone of the 1996 USA women's basketball team. In the same year, she joined the American Basketball League bringing her talent to the Columbus Quest who she led to their first championship. She was named season MVP. Endorsed by FILA, she then transferred to the WNBA in hopes of more endorsements and recognition. She joined the floundering Washington Mystics and despite a dismal record, her impact upon the league was both profound and immediate. Besides being a phenomonal foward and guard, Nikki excels at singing :o) Her soulful tunes are heard from Tennessee to Washington and during the Olympics and the Wnba games, her talent was showcased in the singing of the National Anthem. Nikki is engaged to Thomas Penson who proposed to her at the USA versus Tennessee game much to her and her teammates (especially Carla McGhee!) delight :o)
