History
The WWL was formed some 15 years ago at the original whiffleball field
at (Nick's house) then moved down the road to Ebbett's Field and finally
to the new sports complex at West Ebbetts Field.
Rules
The WWL emphasizes the confrontation between the batter and the pitcher.
Standard baseball rules apply i.e. 4 balls , 3 strikes. The strike zone
is a board wired to the backstop. Hit the board its a strike. A foul tip
on a third strike that hits the board is an out. There is no base running
hits are determined by hitting the ball over various lines. A plastic hose
was used for this and makes an effective line. The ball must hit in the
outfield for a hit. The hose is part of the infield. Doubles are when the
ball hits in the outfield on the fly. Triples are when a double rolls over
the home run line. And a home run is when the ball is hit over the home
run line in the air. Hitting any of the trees is a home run. There are
2 outs to an inning and 7 inning games. Two pitchers who allow no runs
must be sustituted for after 9 consecutive innings. A team ahead by 10
runs in the 4th inning is declared the winner.
