Cajuns on the Move

Hi this page is dedicated to the cajuns that have decided to venture off from our great beloved lifstyle and culture of southern Louisiana. On this page you will find out about some of our famous as well as non-famous
"Cajuns on the Move".

Well I bet a few people wonder, what makes a cajun, a real cajun? Is it the food?Is it the accent? Is it the way we dance to the beautiful sounds of cajun music?Well all of those things could be considered as "cajun", but to be a cajun, first we must look to our heritage. The cajuns of South Louisiana are descendents of French Canadians. They were exiled to a place called Acadia, now know as Nova Scotia, Canada. In the year 1755 they were forced, once again, to leave their homes by the British for not pledging their allgence to Britan and the Anglican Church. They then migrated south along the east coast, and eventually along the gulf coast, finally settling in what is now known as Louisiana. Not all cajuns migrated to Louisiana though. There were few who settled along the way, down the east coast. The cajuns of South Louisiana began to live there lives and support their families by mostly fishing and traping. They also devloped a dielect as well as a cooking style of their own. I am very much a part of that heritage, as well as many others out there.I have lived in South Louisiana for most of my life, but my life leads me to a destination that can not be found only in Louisiana. That is why I am currently a "Cajun on the Move". Sometimes our goals in life require us to relocate or constanly be moving.Louisiana is in my opinion " THE" greatest place to live, however sometimes it is not possible to fullfill our goals and dreams by standing still. That is why it is up to us to let it be know to the world how wonderful and majestic our culture and heritage are.

I know there are many cajuns out there who would like to be able to be at home in Louisiana , but are working hard towards there goals in life and are sharing our culture with the rest of the world , so that they will better understand who we are and what we are about.
Some of those people who I talk about are widely know all over the US as well as the world. Some like Wayne Toups, my favorite acordion player and cajun zydeco singer ; Aaron Neville, who is the best singer New Orleans has ever produced; as well as the famous Sammy Kershaw.
