Full Name: Evening Mist (after her "Aunt" Hazy)
Nicknames & Phrases: A-Misty (squealed), Little Mist,
Precious pretty girl, The Evening Variety Mist
Actual B-day: June 20, 1994
Current Age: 13
Quirks: Plays fetch, won't take a treat unless it's from
my lips, gives me
her front paws to hold, pulls my
hair when she wants
attention. Misty is also my
"monitor
queen."
History:
Tammy was having trouble coming up with the money to
have her kitties spayed, so
they just kept having kittens. She being the sole support of her family
of six, she was
simply unable to handle the expense at the time. Taking Misty was both
request &
desire. I fell in love with her on sight but wasn't sure if I could
take her right away.
I was still fighting for Chester's life at the time (see
Winchester ) and my vet bills
were
mounting. (My vet, by the way was wonderful about working with me on
the finances!)
I was also afraid that I wouldn't be able to give a new kitten the
attention she'd need
while settling in. Chester's care could be time consuming.
As it turned out, Tammy's husband was making threatening
noises. It was already verbal
and we both knew what that meant, so Misty joined the herd. I had no
trouble bringing
her in. She fit like a glove!
Misty also possesses the "terrorism gene" but to a milder
degree. Mostly, she leaves everyone
alone. Fow a while, I was living with a friend and Shaky (See:
Shakey) was Misty's main
"victim." Misty is actually a "victim," too. Sundown (See:
Stars With Stripes) is her terrorist and
she doesn't at all like it when the shoe's on the other foot!
Misty has the most prominent case of FBS in the clan (See:
Dif-"fur"-nitions). She's a small
boned kitty, long, lean and of good musculature. Then, you get to that
belly! She likes for me to
grab that floppy wad of skin, believe it or not. When I do, you
can see what her body looks like
without it. People have asked me if she just delivered a
litter of kittens. This is impossible as I
had her spayed as soon as she was ready! It's funny to watch when
she plays fetch, though! That
little belly of hers swings back and forth like a maniacal pendulum!
I'm surprised it hasn't knock-
ed her rear legs out from under her, yet! :-)
It seems strange to me that the girls of the clan are
only members of the herd who play fetch.
Everything that I've read states that fetching isn't genetic. I don't
see how!
The first time Misty fetched, I was unpacking a box.
There was an ugly little key ring that was
supposed tobe a free gift for ordering in there and I pitched it aside.
I had no idea of what Misty
was up to until she dropped it back in the box in front of me and started
hollering incessantly. I
didn't get what she wanted (I'm slow, but I'm old! lol) until she picked
it up & dropped it again.
She's been obsessed with it ever since. I don't say obsessed
lightly, either! Any time that key ring
was misplaced, Misty would mope around until it was found again. If
I didn't throw the key
ring when she was ready, she'd sneak up behind me and pull my hair!
Many times, I'd wake up
and find it next to me on the bed, too! I even wrote a song about
it.
One day she almost dropped the key ring in my coffee and
I wrote the song as though it
had happened (See: 'Tails' Of Love: Pet
Poetry). Silly, but it was fun to do!
With the move that I made recently, the key ring
was lost. Since the loss of her beloved key
ring, we've made her two more. She goes all out with her new toy! Your
greeting is a small
example of how excited she can get. This time, however, she's just
excited to see you! :-)
Her pic in Name This Picture was taken when
I held the original key ring up in a throwing
posture. Misty was just telling me to hurry up and throw it!
When Misty isn't playing with her toys, she's very quiet
and extremely gentle. I can just hear a few of you
grossing out because I let her take treats from my lips. It's not as
bad as it sounds. I can barely feel her
whiskers, so gentle is she! Now if I were fool enough to try that with
Beau, I'd be running around lipless! :-)
In a loving mood, Misty is at her most precious! She just
sort of melts into my lap. I can get away with just
about anything (within reason). Her looks of love are priceless and
her purrs, though barely heard are music
to my ears! I didn't do Tammy a favor in adopting Misty. Tammy did
me the favor of bringing my Little Mist
to me!
Snuggling with Aunt Hazy Mist
Oh where, oh where did Shades'
head go? lol
Computers are fun for kitties, too! Remember to
keep an eye on both to protect your investment and
your special little 4-legged friend!
