Chromehorse's Mustang Project
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Well G'day!!

  This site is dedicated to a little project i have got going on.  The latest transformation of my 1978 Mustang II 2+2.

I bought the car roughly seven years ago.  It was a V6, manual shift little screamer.  The previous owner modified the german V6 to quite an impressive little beast.  But i needed a big beast.

It wasn't long before out came the six and in went a V8. I was always on a budget, so the engines were always basically stock.  I went through a couple of engines before i finally woke up and began to build my own engine.

So, currently the engine under the hood is an 1971 302, bored .30" over, hyper pistons, chamfered crank, wolverine street cam, rebuilt truck heads, dominator intake,4 bbl carb (rochester, shhh, don't tell anyone!:)) and a few other go fast and look good goodies.  I converted it to a C4 with a 3500 stall torque convertor and shift kit, although the third member is still original.

But, I have big plans!!  I want to change her into a go fast, stop on a dime, handle like on rails car, that i am not afraid to hop in and drive just about anywhere.  It is going to be quite the project!

THE PLANS.

Drivetrain: Convert to fuel injection, switch to Automatic Overdrive.Swap out rear axle to a shortened 9".

Brakes: Upgrade front brakes to 11" Granada brakes, Convert rear brakes to 5 bolt disc brakes.

Suspension:  Lower front suspension 2" and rear by 1".  Replace all the bushing with polyurethane.  Upgrade shocks and springs.

Body: Sand blast and completely redo body and paint.  Experiment with different spoilers and scoops.

Interior: Install roll cage, newer buckets and update trim to carbon fibre.

As you can see, it won't be an over night project.  But i will try and post pics of the progress.  The picture on the right is of Jon Pearsall car which i am drawing inspiration.  It is a gorgeous car and is similiar to what i have in mind.

Thanks, Darren (a.k.a chromehorse).
