GIMIX is the grandaddy. Completed on May 13, 2000, it was released by The Avalanches to combat the bootlegs of their (unfinished) album which were finding their way around Australia and the U.K. It was available on the cassette "Contains Elements Of Since I Left You" for $10 at Avalanches gigs, as early as July 2000. In July 2001, a promotional GIMIX cd was put out by Modular Records Australia. Upon their US Visit in late 2001, some 'official' gimix CDRs were given to US radio stations.

This mix surfaced in the USA, as a promotional-only item apparently released by Cornerstone Promotions. It also includes a mix by the Utah Saints entitled "In The Mix", as well as the video for "Fronteir Psychiatrist" and videos by Gob, Lennon & Faithless. Judging by the tracklist, this set may have been recorded early in the European tour. It's unclear whether it's actually live from a soundboard, or pre-recorded.
