GANGLION

Tendons connect muscles to bone. Some tendons have a lining around them. There is a fluid between the tendon and it's lining which helps the tendon move easily. If a tendon is overused, it may become swollen. There may be a build up of fluid which can push itself outward to form a hard lump or cyst. These lumps can happen anywhere but are usually found at the wrist. Ganglions that have been surgically removed and may later reappear. They can be as stubborn as a planter wart is for removal.

A ganglion may also be called a ganglionic cyst.
