This RLAC page is constantly under construction (just like PennDOT!).
If you have any information you would like to share with RLAC, please e-mail me directly.
In the VERY NEAR future the RLAC World
Wide Web page will be adding FORM capability.
Until then, please use the e-mail
link here, or at the bottom of the page.
Any information and/or graphics pertaining
to the Railroad industry in general - and Labor Legislation
activities in the US Congress in particular - will be
greatly appreciated.
What purpose do we serve?:
We are a non-profit, all volunteer group of railroad employees (Sponsored by TCU System Board 86) who are using the political system to bring our message directly to our legislative representatives in Washington, DC.
Everyone these days, ESPECIALLY railroad management, has their own interests at heart.
We are here to protect our jobs and livelihoods.
The Railway Legislative Action Committee is based in Pittsburgh, PA and have been working hard by contacting our legislators and expressing our concerns for our future.
We launched a massive (considering our budget!) letter writing campaign dealing with various pieces of damaging (for us employees) legislation.
In 1996 we sent over 10,000 letters to our Legislators.
Click to see what we've done in '97.
When time is of the essence (they are REAL GOOD at sneaking up behind us!) and we can't afford the luxury of printing letters, distributing them for signatures, retrieving, stuffing and mailing them out - we get our members on the PHONES and call our Representatives.
We have successfully fought off a number of management initiated attacks to our chosen careers.
RLAC (pronounced Rail-ACK) has been the model for other groups throughout the railroad industry, both freight and passenger. If you would like information on starting a similar organization on your home railroad, please feel free to e-mail us with your questions. We will provide all the assistance and guidance that are at our disposal.
"What is RLAC doing for me NOW?" you ask.
Our current letters deal with:
Congratulations to Secretary of
Labor Alexis Herman
Mr. President - re: STB appointment
Conrail / CSX / NS merger
Oppose the "Family Friendly Workplace Act"
