Despite the fact that Bill Clinton insists that the current presidential crisis originates from sex, he has committed serious crimes and broken laws...laws he was sworn to uphold. Perjury before a federal grand jury, witness tampering/suborning perjury, abuse of power, and obstruction of justice are high crimes and misdemeanors. And the fact that they occurred while he was supposed to be serving as our commander in chief makes them more deplorable. Engaging in such reckless behavior while discussing on the phone with a congressman the tragic situation in Bosnia is not funny -- it is horrifying!

And our president's defense is to say he thought it was acceptable because he thought the sexual harassment charges in the Paula Jones trial were unfair(imagine if Senator Bob Packwood had committed crimes to obstruct the sexual harassment investigation into him because he thought it wasn't fair or meritorious. Imagine the howls from feminists if he had!). Mr. President, you're not entitled to special exceptions to the law because you feel embarrassed or wronged.


Why the cigar?
Our president has committed repeated offenses that many of us to believe to be in serious violation of the doctorines outlined in our constitution. While there are numerous offenses against the republic that Clinton has committed, we chose the cigar because it is one of the most powerful "symbolic" means to offer our protest of outrage. Please realize that we ask you to join this effort in addition to the letters, emails, phone calls, and petitions you have signed. This is a means to gain the attention of the media and the Beltway to communicate that the people are not "o.k." with what the president has done, and no sir, we are not going to move on until you are held accountable.

If you've had enough like we have, then join the movement to urge for the impeachment of the president.

***What You Can Do To Help***

URGENT: We are asking Americans to begin a campaign to mail cigars to members of the Senate and the White House to call for the president's impeachment.

IMPORTANT: Purchase 4 cigars (any kind, the cheaper the better -- take the wrapper off, so it can't be used by the recipients!). Mail one to each Senator from your state, your congressman and the White House. Mail them to those representatives who support impeachment hearings as well -- they need our support and proof that the public is INDEED outraged by our President's actions. The address for the White House is:

Include with your cigar a note that says:

The constitution does not permit a president to commit high crimes and misdemeanors such as perjury, subornation of perjury, obstruction of justice, and abuse of power EVEN IF these acts involved sex. In fact Mr. President, your disgracing of the Oval Office, of _our_ White House, makes these crimes even more disturbing. It is time for you to leave.

In the early 1990's, Governor Pete Wilson signed into law a tax on snack foods -- called the snack tax and later the twinkie tax named after that most famous of snacks -- in California. The public was outraged and began to mail twinkies to the Governor's Office in Sacramento. The movement took off across the state, the Governor was bombarded with smashed twinkies, and the tax was repealed.

We must spread word of this effort if it is to succeed:
