Pictured below is our baby. You'll see it pictured throughout our website, periodically in all the 4WD magazines, and even on ESPN. It gets alot of attention and we've worked hard to make it one of the most capable all around vehicles in the country. Look below for a list of goodies we have on board and what is planned for the future.
Vehicle: 86' Samurai with 88' registration and goodies from all other years of SJ413 Samurais. Color is Jeep Citron Green with pearl.
Drivetrain: Custom cut Dana 44 axles. Available from Summit Offroad. Uses 1/2" thick DOM tubing and Chevy outer knuckles with Cadillac disc brakes front and rear. Houses 5.38 diff gears with ARB lockers front and rear and ARB compressor (orders for ARB Samurai axles being taken NOW!). Superwinch hubs. Driveshafts are custom double carden long travel setups by Tom Wood and are also avalable through us.
Tires/Wheels: Willamette 10" wide 2.5" backspaced wheels with full beadlocks and custom powdercoated. Tires are 35x15.50 TSL SX's siped for extra traction and flexibility. SPare tire is 34x9.50 TSL Swamper (the Chainsaw).
Engine: Formerly... 1.6 Sidekick with Isky Cam, Thorley header, and dual sidedraft carbs. Mated to transmission with our 1.6 Engine Swap kit. Spark fed to stock coil by MSD 6A Offroad ignition. Dual K&N filter setup with custom airbox for deep fording Suzuki Samurai snorkel, available exclusively thru us. New engine.... Volkswagon 1.9 Turbo Diesel. Twice the horsepower of stock Samurai with three times the torque. Means you don't have to downshift going up hills and wind your engine. Even at mid and low RPMs this engine flys! Mileage estimated to be in the mid 30's. Complete fuel injection system with only hooking up one single new wire. No electrical headaches. Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. Exhuast uses our Bulletproof header gasket then patched into a 2.25" hi-flow cat and dual Cherry BOmb exhaust system.
Suspension: Formerly... Missing suspension front and rear with M-Link bumpstops, castor shims, M-link shackles, long reach brake lines, custom upper and lower shock mounts. Old Man Emu springs up front with custom National springs in back. Long travel Doetsch Tech shocks for comfortable ride. Panhard locating bar to keep the front end nice and tight handling onthe highway. Articulation officially measured at 98' Zukfari at 42.5", RTI score of 1600 on 20* ramp. New setup.... Coil front suspension with Panhard locating arm. Rear swing arm (3/4 elliptic) with custom National springs. Articulation should estimated close to 50"
Bumpers: Front is custom one-off Glenn Wakefield creation designed for maximum clearance and approach angle. Housed is a Warn 8K winch complete with giant red tow hook for pulling lessor vehicles up the hill :^). Rear is Summit Crawler design with swingdown tire carrier, class II hitch, and air tank incorporated and swing down tire carrier.
Armor: Nerf bar/rockers are one-off Glenn Wakefield creation. Heavy duty angle iron with 3/4 tube welded all along for maximum clearance and great looks. Transfer case skidplate armor also avaialble through Rocky Road. Diamond plate rear corners painted to match vehicle. Fishplate spring hanger guards.
Transfer case: Formerly... Mega-crawler 4.89 gears avaiable form Rocky Road supported by our Super Beefy long and short Tcase arms. New setup... Twin Toyota Transfer cases with Marlin Crawler. Basically offers a 3 speed transfer case setup with 1:1 in high range for low RPMs since revs aren't needed for the turbo diesel engine to pull strong. Also offers a final low range of 300:1. Kit possibly available in the future, though it will require some body modification.
Windshield Fold-Down kit from Rocky Road. Uses all stock Suzuki parts imported from Japan. Allows windshield to flop down just like Jeep CJs.
Roll Cage: Custom cage. Weldin. Same look as our 'Sport Cages' available through Rocky Road.
Cover-up: White Safari Soft-top, Kayline. Vinyl soft doors fro Kayline and available through Rocky Road for nice sealing door to get to the trail and throw em' in back once you get there.
Electrical: All driven by our 160 amp alternator and welder system. Twim on board compressors drive our air system. Headlamps are IPF H4's with Magic J-Bulbs for illumination. Dual Optima batteries with Wrangler Power switchable relay charging system.
Steering: Toyota power steering system available from Rocky Road. Custom Zlink for long travel suspension and no bumpsteer with 8" of lift.
For show: Suzuki logo billet shifter knobs on tcase and transmission. "Interior Remodel set" with our black ABS panels. And of course.... Rocky Road outfitter stickers!
