Jarod's pretend: None - Impromptu Pretend
Episode title: "Assassin"
Written By: Tommy Thompson
Directed By: Michael Lange

Jarod helps Rachael, a former CIA computer analyst to avoid having to assassinate a U.S. senator in order to free her children, who had been kidnapped by her former boss at the CIA, a man who was thought to have been killed, several years before ... but who was actually alive and was the force behind a dozen political assassinations that had been based on simulations created by Rachael and the M2 team while working as an analyst for the CIA, 10 years prior.

Broots has a date with Charlene Reynolds, a woman from the accounting department and Sydney goes to a poetry reading of a book that wasn't written by Michelle.   The wedding invitations for Mr. Parker and Brigitte's are sent out.    Lyle tries to make peace between Brigitte and Miss Parker and admits to having slept with Brigitte himself.   Seems as though everyone at the Centre has found someone with whom to have or begin a relationship, except Miss Parker ... but then she meets Thomas Gates, a carpenter who is restoring a home near hers.   She is beginning to like Thomas anyway, but is being cautious - perhaps overly so - until Brigitte interferes and tells her that she must not see him again until he has been investigated completely by The Centre.   Prompted by a midnight telephone call from Jarod, telling her to "follow her heart" and not to let "them" take away her happiness, Miss Parker defiantly throws out (unread) the background check that she, herself, had already ordered on Thomas Gates and meets him for a romantic evening of viewing the stars from atop a hill ... thereby starting the first real relationship that she has had with anyone in many, many years.

The closing scene in this episode, where Miss Parker meets Thomas atop the hill shortly after midnight, is beautifully played by Andrea Parker ... might just be her best scene of this entire season so far.   Jessica Steen also gives a wonderful performance as "Rachael" - the woman whose children have been abducted as a means of controlling her.

Guest Stars: Jason Brooks (Thomas Gates), Michael Bryan French (Alex E. Renfro), Patrick Kilpatrick (Rachael's son), Lorna Raver (Rachael's daughter) and Jessica Steen (Rachael).
