![]() Strolling down Lexington Avenue: (l-r) Peter, Eric, Zia, Courtney. |
Since I've littered this site with random Dandy Warhols references, it might be nice of me to tell you who they are. It's your own fault that you don't know already but we won't get into that right now. Anyway. Alternately described as psychedelic, Velvet-Underground-influenced punksters or the "best British band to come from America," the Dandys quickly became the most frequent occupant of my cd players. They hail from Oregon ... wait. "Who are 'they?'", right? Sorry. "They" are Zia McCabe, Peter Holmstrom, Courtney Taylor, and Brent deBoer. Courtney amazed me with really intelligent conversation. He thinks, ladies and gentlemen, and thinks very well. He considers his words, plans them, and has a gift for converting thoughts to words. Zia is a whirlwind and seems to go 90 mph all the time. Peter ... well, he's just adorable. He's very quiet, sweet, and apparently smarter and more responsible than the rest of the band because he doesn't stay out until 5:00am on Thursday nights. Brent's a sweetheart; I just created a page devoted to him because he's just so darn nice. He really can talk, and he holds his own in conversations. He also seems to be psychic ... damn. |
Right ... the band. They've released two cd's: "Dandys Rule, OK" and "The Dandy Warhols Come Down." "Come Down" is having singles released all over the place, starting with "Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth" last summer, "Boys Better" sometime this past winter, and now "Every Day Should Be A Holiday" in the UK. "Holiday" is also featured on the soundtrack to There's Something About Mary. You'll find there's nothing like "TV Theme Song" for madly dancing around your living room. "I Love You" will stick in your brain until you tell random people how much you adore them. When you misplace your copies of the cd you will go mad and start listening to your singles over and over again, just so you can hear them. Slightly updating ... 05 August 98: The band are about to start their trip around England again, and they'll be part of the V98 festival by stopping at Chelmsford and Leeds. Then it's all around England without me. (Damn it! First Houston and New Orleans, now England. Anyone want to sponsor me? I'm cute (I'm on your right), I can cook, I'll keep a tour journal and I'll get them lots of water to purify the soul.) Check out the tour dates and go find them. They'll be in England in the beginning of September, too, and at some point they're heading off to Australia. Be nice to them or we'll hunt you down. We have a plunger, you know. In the meantime, go check out the "Holiday" video again. My goodness, I just drool and drool. If we've got a quarter ... Other Dandy sites.
