OLD CITIZEN ANSWERS CALL
Green Lee Hendrix, of Stantonville, died at his home on the morning of September 6, 1933.  He was nearing his 90th birthday when the summons came.  Mr. Hendrix had been in feeble health for some time, and his death has caused much sorrow to those who knew him throughout the long years of the past.  He belonged to a pioneer family of the county, and was one of its most highly respected citizens.  For a long time he had been a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
In the 60's he was a gallant Confederate soldier, participating in that conflict.  He was in that frightful battle of Franklin and was wounded there and in a battle in Mississippi.  At the time of his death he was on the Confederate pension roll, being of the small remnant of soldiers wearing the gray in that war.  The survivors are reduced to less than ten.
Mr. Hendrix was a brother of Mrs. Josh Dixon, who is nearing her 100th birthday, and who lives at the old homestead in the Chewalla community.  Besides this sister many other relatives survive.
The remains of the good old man were laid to rest Thursday afternoon in the Ledbetter cemetery, in Hardin county.
