- Karelian ministry of education and youth (in Russian) - See the Concept of the development of the Finno-Ugrian school in Karelia (zip-file). The concept aims at preserving the languages and culture of the Karelians, Vepsians and Finns in Karelia, creating preconditions for the development of the Finno-Ugrian school.
- Department of Balto-Finnic philology and culture at the Petrozavodsk University - The department consists of two chairs: the chair of the Finnish language and literature, and the chair of the Karelian and Veps languages and literature.
- Petrozavodsk conservatory (in Russian) - A Finno-Ugrian musical academy was created in 1993 as a part of the conservatory. It gives training in ethnomusicology, composing, traditional instruments and traditional singing.
