DAVID SELBY

Selby was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia. He received B.S. and M.A. degrees from West Virginia University and a Ph.D degree from Southern Illinois University.
Selby began his professional career in regional theaters, such as the Barter Theatre and the Cleveland Playhouse, where he was recently inducted into their Hall of Fame, and continued to work on Broadway and Off-Broadway. His long list of Broadway and Off-Broadway plays includes David Rabe's Sticks and Bones at the New York Public Theatre; The Heiress with Jane Alexander, Eccentricities of a Nightingale with Betsy Palmer, and Oliver Hailey's I Won't Dance on Broadway; and Much Ado About Nothing with Kelly McGillis at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C., directed by Michael Kahn.
In Los Angeles he starred in such plays as Slugger at the Geffen Playhouse, The Rehearsal for the L.A. Classic Theatre, Money and Friends at the Ahmanson, A.R. Gurney's Love Letters at the Pasadena Playhouse, and received Drama Logue acting awards for his portrayals of "John Proctor" in The Crucible and the "Rev. T. Lawrence Shannon" in Night of the Iguana at the Los Angeles Theatre Center.
In addition to his extensive stage work Selby has appeared in many feature films as well. Selby's feature films include "Rich and Famous" directed by George Cukor with Candice Bergen and Jacqueline Bisset, "Rich Kids" with John Lithgow, "Raise the Titanic" with Ann Archer and Jason Robards, "Super Cops" with Ron Liebman, "Up the Sandbox" with Barbra Streisand, "Night of Dark Shadows" with Kate Jackson, "Dying Young" with Campbell Scott and Julia Roberts, "White Squall" directed by Ridley Scott with Jeff Bridges, "Headless Body" with Paul Williams, and "Mighty Ducks III." Most recently Selby completed "Alone" for Showtime, with Hume Cronin and James Earl Jones.
Selby has also had an accomplished career on television. His television credits include such miniseries as "Washington: Behind Closed Doors" and "King of the Olympics." He has guest starred on many series, the most recent appearance being on "Promised Land." Selby also created the roles of Quentin Collins on "Dark Shadows," Michael Tyrone on "Flamingo Road," and most memorably, Richard Channing on "Falcon Crest."
He and his wife, Chip, reside in the Los Angeles area and are very active in the non-profit community. Selby and his wife have 3 children. Their son, Jamison, is a professional actor in New York City and their daughters, Brooke and Amanda, are presently in college.
