TO PROSPECTIVE PLAYERS

True humans are disappearing from the land. A week ago, the village of T'ville was raided by an organized band from the South. The Land’s K-9 patrols were sent to track them but soon had to be called back to the northern border to defend the Land against seasonal raids. Just last week, another raid on the southern village of Cairo left nothing but missing true humans. New humans and new animals were ignored or disposed off if they were in the way. Reports from the North have the K-9 patrols and most soldiers fortifying the two northern passes of the Land leaving the South poorly protected. But nothing ever came from the South, nothing as organized as these slavers seem to be. The Land’s Lord has called for help in deciphering this mystery and putting an end to it. What comes from the southern wastelands and takes true humans back as slaves with them? A report from a surviving mutant talked of a long caravan of bound true humans marching as if on an ancient train. The villagers already have a name for it, it is the Train of Misery!

Greetings fellow roleplayers and welcome to Gamma World. A bit about myself, I’ve been roleplaying for over 18 years and a big fan of Gamma World (2nd edition). I got hooked on Alternity a couple of years ago and could not believe my luck when Gamma World was revived under these most excellent rules. I am also an avid amateur writer, which is one of the reasons why this type of game appeals so much to me.

I am looking for 3 to 5 starting characters. The game will NOT be first come first serve and we will take time to develop characters for it. It will have action as well as problem solving so a good mix of professions is recommended. The format will be about two turn recaps per week and I will do all the dice rolling once the game gets going (a PBEM game is slow enough already). I am looking for roleplayers whose turn replies are NOT a one sentence reply. Remember that I am here to be entertained just as much as you.

Please take a look at the rules and sample posts (link below) and know that I do require quite a bit of writing on my games. Before you submitt a characters, take the time to scan a couple of the excellent characters submitted for the "Flower Children" PBEM (now defunct). Also read a couple of turns from that game since that is the type of game that I am hoping to GM. I am NOT the sole responsible for the game but I am here to smooth things out and make sure that everyone has a good time. Think of this as an on-going NOVEL that we are ALL writing.

If this sounds like a game for you, then send me a character (name, race, professions) with the following sections: a) appearance (what other people see when looking at you, physical characteristics, clothing, items, etc.), b) history (where your character comes from, what has he done, how he acquired his skills, provide a couple of plot hooks, etc.), c) personality (what he likes to do, his fears, his manners, his favorite sayings, etc.). You can read about the Land below (and see map) to see what information is available to your characters and what background you can have; the characters MUST be from the Land. Please make the characters interesting, the strong and silent type just don't cut it in this type of game; you don’t have to send clowns either. We will be using the Alternity Rules System for the PBEM. You can send ‘stats’ along with the required sections if you so wish (See PBEM Rules below). If you are not familiar with the rules system (shame on you :)), we will work together to convert whatever rule system you are used to playing Gamma World with. Characters will be judged and selected based on the above mentioned sections; NOT the stats.

Although the game has started, I am ALWAYS looking for good roleplayers so email me your character ideas and we'll take it from there.
