Brooklyn Class

clohig20.jpg (41901 bytes) The light cruiser O'Higgins was launched in 1937 for the US Navy as USS Brooklyn, fought in the WW2, and it was sold to the chilean navy in 1951. It was retired in 1992.
clprat20.jpg (44826 bytes) The light cruiser Prat was launched in 1938 for the US Navy as USS Nashville, fought in the WW2, and it was sold to the chilean navy in 1951. It was retired in 1982. The Prat was rename Chacabuco after to arrive the new DLG Prat

Tre Kronor Class

The light cruiser Latorre was launched in 1945 for the Sweden navy as Göta Lejon, and it was sold to the chilean navy in 1971. It was retired in 1984.

O'Higgins Class

cpohigg1.jpg (14546 bytes) It was ordered in 1898. It was used for the first amphibious aircraft in the chilean navy. It was retired in 1933 and sold for scrap in 1963

Esmeralda Class

clpesme1.jpg (11614 bytes) It was the first protected cruiser in the world, ordered in 1881. It fought in the Civil War (1891). Due to low freeboard (11 ft.), it was sold to Japan in 1895. In the japanese navy was renamed Idzumi and fought in the Tsushima battle.

Ministro Zenteno Class

cpzente1.jpg (14329 bytes) In 1895, the brazilian navy ordered 4 ships to Armstrong Mitchell & Co., Ltd. shipyards. But Brazil only bought the Barroso, 2 ships were sold to US Navy (New Orleans and Albany) and the last one was offered to the chilean navy and renamed Ministro Zenteno. It was retired in 1930.

Blanco Encalada Class

cpblanc1.jpg (14212 bytes) It was ordered in 1893, it had a big refit in 1920 and retired in 1940.

Presidente Errázuriz Class

soon The Presidente Errázuriz was ordered to France in 1887. They (Presidente Errázuriz and Presidente Pinto) didn't send to Chile due to the Civil War. In 1908, it had a big refit replacing the artillery and boilers. It was retired in 1930.
soon The Presidente Pinto was lost in 1905.
