The MEOE is the Hungarian Kennel Club and is affiliated with FCI. The MEOE MMK is the Parent Club for the Mudi breed in Hungary.

The MEOE MMK and the AMA work together on many projects for the Mudi breed.  Please be sure to visit this webpage often to see the latest news.

Also the latest events and news from Hungary that affect the Mudi breed will be posted here.  Many new things are developing for the Mudi in Hungary too!  Be sure to check in often.

Recent News

MEOE MMK:  The MMK is now finished the Character Test which will be used for Temperament Testing of Mudi's in Hungary for those that wish to have their Mudi's tested.  The first test was on April 16, 2005 in Budapest.  Please contact the MMK for more information.  The MMK now offers COI service to Mudi owners.

MEOE rules change:  As of June 30, 2005, microchipping will be in effect for all litters born in Hungary for pedigree identification.  Tattoo's will no longer be used.

MEOE rules change: As of this time, no more dogs (including Mudi's) will be given a B registration pedigree in Hungary.  Now they will be given an R registration.  All litters of Mudi puppies that have a B or R registered parent, will have to be approved by the MEOE MMK President before a pedigree will be given to the puppies in the litter.  This includes previously bred B dogs as well.

Recent Articles

*NEW* In the November issue of the "A Kutya" magazine, an ongoing forum of interviews about "What is a breeder?", the President of the Mudi club, Dr. Péter Pongrácz, was asked and had his opinion published.

*NEW* In the July issue of the "A Kutya" magazine, an article featuring Dog Dancing appeared, written by József Árkosi with pictures of Agnes Kovács and Piroska Hanga and their Mudi's. (You can see an article written by Piroska Hanga for the AMA on the AMA Articles page!)

*NEW* In the August issue of the "A Kutya" magazine, the MEOE MMK club show article appeared with the clubs winners listed and pictures of many Mudi's that also appeared there.  It was written by the club President, Dr. Péter Pongrácz with pictures from Gábor Szalánczi.

*NEW* In the September and October Issues of the "A Kutya" magazine appeared an article (in two parts) about the breeding of Hungarian breeds without giving pedigrees and using B/R registration system.

*NEW* In the September issue of Nemzetközi Kutya, Beszédes A Mudim Facér Fiú was pictured with his owner at the MKSZ CAC show in Nagykanizsa, he won Veteran BIS and BIS 2nd.

*NEW* In the October issue of Nemzetközi Kutya, Őzugrató Angyal "Angel" was pictured with her owner (the AMA President) at the MKSZ CAC show in Hernád, she won Hungarian Breed BIS and BIS!  This is possibly only the second time a Mudi has ever won Best in Show.  Also in this issue was a report on the Ethological Conference which was held in Budapest Hungary this year.  Several lectures featured research work done by Dr. Pongrácz and his associates, one in particular featured his bark research work which uses barks from the Mudi.

In the May 2005 issue of the Journal of Comparative Psychology, published in the USA, Dr. Péter Pongrácz's bark research article will premier.  It features Mudi's as the breed selected for the barks that were used and his research on dog's barking as a human communication tool.  Péter's research is ongoing at the ELTE University in Budapest and has been awarded several grants.  Péter's work is the first published research using the Mudi breed.  His research continues to use Mudi barks and is a topic in many Ethological conference seminars.  Of course Mudi barks and pictures are always present!  It is a great source of breed recognition!  Many thanks and congratulations to Péter!

*NEW* In the May 2005 issue of the American Psychological Association journal "Monitor on Psychology", Dr. Péter Pongrácz was interviewed in association with the article (published above also in May) in the Journal of Comparative Psychology regarding his dog bark research.

The Nemzetközi Kutya Magazin, is another dog magazine in Hungary, where Péter is a regular every month in the "By Their Opinion" section.  He is pictured there with his Mudi Fecske! This is a monthly forum of 6 consultants that answer 3 questions every month, concerning the hottest dog issues and topics.  Péter is the Ethologist who makes dog research.  The other consultants are a vet, an obedience trainer, a dog breeder, an agility competitor and an animal welfare activist.

Recent Appearances

The Mudi is on a postage stamp in Hungary!  It is also on the cover on the Magyar Posta Katalógus 2004 of collectors stamps!  The Mudi was commemorated as one of the 9 Hungarian breeds that were made National Treasures this year in Hungary.  The four breeds given a place on the stamp were the Puli, the Magyar Agar, the Mudi and the Vizsla.  This is the first time the Mudi has appeared on a Hungarian stamp.
